President's Message

Magnolia Chapter ASHRAE Members,
My name is Austin Terry, and I will be your Chapter President this upcoming year.
I want to thank KP Peoples for leading our Chapter for the past 2 years. KP and the Chapter received numerous awards at the Chapter Regional Conferences. Our Chapter remains strong because of his leadership and service.
We will continue our monthly meetings in just a few weeks. The event calendar is shown below and will be posted on the Chapter website. I encourage all members to attend these meetings so we can make sure our presenters’ time is well used.
Please take special note of the October meeting which will be held on Friday, Oct 2 at Mississippi State University. We will have lunch, speakers, and a tour of the High-Performance Computing Center. More details to follow. We would love to have a strong attendance from our members to show appreciation for the time Chapter chairs have volunteered to set this up.
You may notice the Chapter logo is different. In April, with guidance from Society leaders, the membership voted to change the Chapter name to “The Magnolia Chapter of ASHRAE.” This is a big deal! We will provide an update on this at our first meeting.
I want to remind everyone that our Chapter is run by volunteers. Our meetings and events are funded by dues, donations and sponsorships. If you or your firm are interested in supporting the Chapter further – whether financially or getting involved with your time – please reach out to one of the Chapter officers. All members receive 1 PDH for being a member, and 2 PDHs for active participation in a leadership or committee role.
I am surrounded by a great leadership team which should make for a fun and productive year. ASHRAE has always been a familiar organization to me. My grandfather served as Chapter President in 1971. It’s an honor to be in this same position 55 years later.
I look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks.

spring FUNDRAISER
We will have the spring fundraiser golf tournament in April. This will include golf for teams of 4 as a fundraiser for our local chapter. There will also be a crawfish boil at the tournament.

2027 Winter conference and ahr expo
The 2027 ASHRAE Winter Conference will be held in Chicago, Illinois at Marriott Marquis McCormick Place January 25-27, 2027.

The Mississippi Chapter is part of ASHRAE Region VII. The Director and Regional Chair (DRC) is Carrie Kelty. Region VII is made up of 14 chapters.
